Hello Dear Friend,
As I write this the rain is teeming down outside and there is no sign of a let up in the near future. In fact there is a huge storm coming in on Wednesday evening with 90 mph winds and lots of rain, not a lot we can d about it except batten down the hatches. I don’t know about calling an *Uber, I will need to call Noah’s taxi’s to get an ark to take me to town…
*Fun Fact - there are no Uber’s on the Isle of Wight.
Angels and Archangels
Angels at their core are believed to be messengers from a higher realm, but why do we believe this? Mostly it is due to the religion or culture we are raised in.
Christianity, Judaism and Islam are some of the religions which believe in a three part universe - Heaven, Earth, and Hell. Within those parts reside Angels, Humans, and Demons. Other faiths, mostly Eastern in origin, Hindus, and Buddhists among others, have no need of such ‘angelic’ messengers, if a message needs to be given it is done by another being.
Where are the Angels?
You would think that all we needed to know about angels would be in the bible, but no, they are only mentioned a few times and only three are mentioned by name.
So how do we know of the hierarchy?
Mostly it is from The Apocrypha, and similar heretical texts. The most influential source is the Chronicles of Enoch, which were compiled around the 2nd century B.C., and until the 4th century B.C. were the go-to guides for angels, their hierarchy and their roles in the angelic and human world. St Jerome declared Enoch’s writings as apochryphal or heretical and so they fell out of favour. Why were they deemed so heretical? Well, mostly because Enoch’s Chronicles were the written accounts of his journey to what he called the Ten Heavens, and in one of them there was a punishment area watched over by gigantic angels.
When the church decided that they wanted a seperate heaven and hell, the image of a punishment area in heaven did not fit. So out they went and were not rediscovered in any way until the 18th century. Although apparently there is a lot of Enoch’s material to be found in the New Testament.
The Hierarchy of Angels
The standard organisational flow chart of the Angels is as follows, ther are Nine Choirs, organised into Three Triads.
Highest Triad - 1. Seraphim 2. Cherubim 3. Thrones
Middle Triad - 4. Dominations 5. Virtues 6. Powers
Lower Triad - 7. Principalities 8. Archangels 9. Angels
Basically the higher the number, the nearer they are to us, to humanity, and the smaller the number, the closer they are to the Divine Source of Light and Love.

I will go into the different choirs, one at a time, each week going forward, it is a huge topic with many levels and layers.
Until next time, which will be tomorrow with the monthly tarot reading, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
