Hello Dear Friend,
Welcome to another Sunday Letter, I am truly grateful for your continued support and love. I was about to go into a blurb about my health, but have deleted it instead, you don’t need to be concerned about me. I am still here, still smiling and still writing.
How have you been? Well, I hope. I wish you all a wonderful few days, however you spend this time of year. We are, as usual, having a quiet few days, just Jo and I with the four furbies, watching a bit of rugby, ticking about the TV viewing - or lack thereof - and perhaps playing a game or two. Jo has sorted out a jigsaw to do, it is the best way to keep the work computer off of the table… I have sorted out a Christmas Eve cast-on, more on this next.
Christmas Traditions
Do you have any? The older I am, the less Christmas seems to impact on me. I find myself annoyed by the continual commercialisation of Christmas - ‘yes we know things are tight with the cost of living so high - but you really need to spend £xxx on this item - no cash? take out some credit…’ Christmas to me means more if it is sent with love, yes the shiny expensive things are lovely, but do I really need them? It reminds me of the old adage ‘I can’t miss what I have never had’. A book bought for pennies in a charity shop, chosen with care is worth every bit as much as a shiny new thing.
Christmas traditions for us - this usually includes prepping the vegetables - potatoes, parsnips, carrots and of course, the brussell sprouts, while listening to the Nine Lessons and Carols from Kings College, Cambridge, via BBC Radio 4
Another tradition I started a few years ago was a Christmas Cast-on, it came about due to a friend of mine, the lovely Dani of Little Bobbins. she began a tradition of releasing a Christmas Sock Pattern and casting it on, on Christmas Eve. This year’s pattern is lovely, and I will be buying it, but I feel the need for a simple pair of socks this year, so I will be casting on her Faithful Friend Socks this Christmas Eve in memory of our dark tortie Poppy who passed a couple of months ago.
Do you do anything special on Christmas Eve? Or over the next week or so? I would love to hear about your traditions.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, I will be back next Sunday with the Monthly Tarot Reading, I am going to look out a New Year spread for us all to see where we are headed.
So, until next time, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
Love and Light,

Thank you for this beautiful post. And for sharing your traditions. Comforting to hear about and imagine. Poppy...😢 It’s good that you’re knitting with her.
Love to you Tracy. I hope you’re okay. You’re important to us. Xoxo
Oh Tracy, you lovely creature. We do worry about your health, and sorry to hear about Poppy.
Sounds like a lovely time. Though I don't celebrate Christmas, I love Christmas time in the UK. There's a lesson in here somewhere. And it's not just about the lights and decorations - though I love those and I am tempted to practice them, I'm just worried how others might react. But there is more to this time of year. Can't articulate it, but I know it's there. So I hope you enjoy it on some deep, 'magical' level.
