Hello Dear Friend,
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying life. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am feeling a little under the weather this weekend. I have just tested myself and it is not the big C (is it just me, or is it weird to say that, it always used to refer to cancer, not covid…) Anyhoo, the test says no, so it’s probably just a lurgy on top of my ME. So lots of rest in my future, no allotment-ing today. It actually looks like it might rain out there. Oh how British of me, talking about the weather. 🌦
Today I think may be spent potting up baby leeks, maybe, and then working on my patchwork quilt. Yes, it was one of those lockdown projects, a 12-month subscription for an English Paper Pieced Quilt top. It is fussy cut and hand-stitched, and will I am sure, look amazing when it is finished. But it takes ages 😁 although it has more chance of getting finished now than it did while it was at the bottom of the wardrobe. I am currently halfway through month two…
This week I have been reminded of how the little things can make a huge difference. A friend of mine has just started up a knit and natter group at her church, so I went along to support her. I had a lovely time and met some great folks, some knitting, some not.
One of the attendees was my friends sister and she reminded me of a time we spent the day dyeing yarn and fibre at my house. This was about twelve years ago and the day had almost slipped out my memory. It was a day filled with love, laughter and fun as we used different dyestuffs to colour yarn, loading them into the steamer and watching as the colours did their own thing. To me, a small moment, but to her a shining memory of a fun day.
My thoughts on this are that as you walk you path through the world, tread gently, spread kindness, joy and love, and above all pay attention to the small moments. You’ll never know the impact your actions may have on someone else. A little like making a patchwork quilt, lots of small pieces magically combining into a glorious whole.
Short and hopefully sweet this week. Wishing you a joyful week full of moments and memories.
Love and Light,
Tracy
