Hello Dear Friend,
I hope you are well, and enjoying what seems to be the beginning of the summer weather, I hope I don’t jinx it now…
It has been another week full of nudges from the universe. Some of the emails coming through have had titles like ‘Wherever You Go, There You Are’ and ‘are you bringing your best self to your life?’ or how about ‘Happiness, the opinions of others, and accepting the reality of slow progress’. I feel the universe is trying to tell me something, don’t you? The vibes I felt were saying that I needed to stick with it, make slow incremental progress and pay attention to how I was feeling. To top it all off I pulled the Knight of Wands during the week - ‘don’t be distracted by the shiny objects - finish what you started…’
James Clear - 30 Days to Better Habits
With that firmly in mind, I should let you know how I have been getting along with James Clear’s Better Habits course. Well, so far so good. I have added a habit tracker to my journal and have managed to stick with the few major items I wished to include regularly in my daily routine - Reading every day and Meditating every day. Slowly creeping in are spending time in the garden. journaling, writing and working on some art, watch this space for updates. For the meditations, I have found that Fog Chaser musical meditations are brilliant, just 2-3 minutes long, enough to start the habit. If anyone has any suggestions for longer pieces, maybe 5-20 minutes in length, please let me know. I have some fabulous YouTube videos saved of Shamanic Drumming which I will graduate to later (they are about 30-60 minutes long).
John O’Donohue
I came across this poet a couple of days ago and his words just touch my soul. Sadly he is no longer with us, but his works are available at most good booksellers. I think a few of these will be going on my birthday and Christmas lists. Here is one that stood out for me:
May my mind come alive today
To the invisible geography
That invites me to new frontiers,
To break the dead shell of yesterdays,
To risk being disturbed and changed.May I have the courage today
To live the life that I would love,
To postpone my dream no longer,
But do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more.John O’Donohue, Excerpt from BENEDICTUS
This Month’s Tarot Reading
It is June next week - where is the year going to?
But you know what that means… It is time for the monthly tarot reading. This time I will be using the Cat Tarot Deck as requested by you last month. It is a fun deck, full of illustrations of cats just being cats…
Embrace, Accept, Let Go
Those were the questions I used for guidance this month. The cards I pulled were as follows:
Embrace - The Chariot
Accept - Five of Cups
Let Go - The Fool
So here goes:
Embrace - The Chariot
The cat is sitting regally in its winged armchair, looking imperious.
This card reminds us that we are in control, and are holding the reins of our life. So embrace this aspect of yourself, take solace that even if you don’t feel in charge - you are.
Accept - Five of Cups
The cat in this card is focused on the emptiness of the bowls before it, finding it difficult to focus on anything else.
This can be a card of confusion, endings and potential disappointment, or it could be that it is time for a change of scenery. Maybe away from any anguish and those people and situations that may be causing it. But there is hope too. The bridge is a sign, which is leading you to where you are supposed to be. Also, friends and family may provide new bowls and help you to move forwards.
Let Go - The Fool
This goofy looking cat seems silly with its tooth showing and wearing a silly hat, but things are not as they seem.
The Fool is the first card of the major arcana, symbolising the beginning of a journey. Let go of expectations, and let cat-like curiosity be your guide, allowing you to be open to the adventure and experiences of life. Don’t forget that trailblazers needn’t worry about the opinions of others. ;0)
During the shuffling, there were a couple of cards that jumped out. When this happens I usually pop them to one side as I feel they want to get their message across too.
Knight of Swords
This card asks - are you ready to pounce? Ready to go after your goals? Whatever you are contemplating chasing after, go for it, but don’t be completely impulsive. Forethought and strategy are still your friends, so ensure you are chasing after whatever it is for the right reasons.
Four of Swords
Who wouldn’t want to be this cat, stretched out, relaxed, inviting you to give him a belly rub…
This card reminds us to take time to relax, rest and recharge our energy. Find a comfortable sunny spot, curl up and have a snooze. You are not being lazy. You are allowing your body to rest whilst allowing your mind to do the work it needs to do.
Overall
Quite a positive reading for this month overall. Embrace the feeling that no matter what, you are in charge, and, if there are any disruptions around you, it is transitory, there is a way forwards. The Fool asks us to trust our curiosity and be open to adventure, letting go of any constraints. The jumper cards are reminders to recharge our energy, but also to consider carefully anything we are chasing after to ensure we are doing it for the right reasons.
Until next time, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
Love and Light,
Tracy
Things catching my eye this week:
This Story which is about plus-size ballerina Lizzy Howell and her amazing life. I am very late to the party with this story, and I wish this kind of positive attitude story had been around when I was growing up.
