Hello Dear Friend,
How are you doing today? Apologies for the delay in sending the May tarot reading, it has taken me a while to recover from my trip to Bath. As you can see from the photo below we had a great meetup, and I recommend Prezzo by the train station, they were brilliantly accommodating.
For this month’s reading I will, for a change be using my *Dragon Wisdom Oracle Deck. I just had the feeling that we needed some dragon energy right now.
Are you ready? Then I will dive right in…
**There are a couple of meditations in this reading if you would like to just re-listen to them the approximate time stamps are as follows:
Shadows - 3.04 minutes
Peace - 7.39 minutes
This month’s spread
I have used the usual three-card spread, Embrace/Accept/Release or Let Go. It seems to work for most of you, as ever take what you feel is aimed at you. Disregard anything that doesn’t fit, and above all, if the card speaks to you in a different way, then go with that.
The Cards
Card 1 - Embrace - Shadows
At first glance, this card seems a little scary, but don’t be afraid of your shadow side. We all have one shadow, in truth we all have many. They can manipulate us if we are not aware of them.
What are shadows? They can be as simple as drinking too much, an addiction to sugar or nicotine, or even just being stubborn for no reason. With this card in the ‘Embrace’ position, I feel it is asking you to acknowledge your shadows and to work with them and on them. If you are ready then the guidebook suggests the following:
Pick a shadow and become familiar with it, the why, when, and how of it. The key is to understand that giving in can often mean victory and the breaking of paralysis. Inner rigidity can prevent us from recognizing our shadows; indeed we are frequently extremely stubborn about this very issue. When working with shadows, try to remain flexible in your attitudes. Recognize when you are being cross or obstinate… Try not to put up defenses, but instead become soft and pliable. Being defensive involves meeting inner rigidity with rigidity, which does not lead to success.
Try this exercise:
Sit upright in a chair, light a white candle, play some calming music…
Now imagine you are surrounded by some tall grass, with a gentle breeze blowing the stalks this way and that. Sway with the grass, sway with the wind.
Call to the black dragon and ask it to move aside all the rigidity within you. Now feel its noble presence; the black dragon is striding through the tall grass. It is magnificent, shimmering, and powerful. It opens it heart and envelops you entirely in a black light. Black light’s frequency has a higher frequency that any other and cannot be contaminated. Feel how this mighty light flows up and down the light canal in your spine, seeking out every weak point. The light pools and flows powerfully to every point in your physical or spiritual body where shadows sap your energy. Now smile, be glad, and say in all love to the shadow: ‘I see you, I know you, I respect you, and now may you go; I do not need you any longer.’ Smile and let the shadow go. Give it to the black dragon, which will lovingly place it in a column of white light. Hear how the dragon says to the shadow: ‘I free you. You need fight no longer, for there is peace for you too. Now go in peace.’ From now on you are free of this shadow.
Live and act according to what has been said, respect yourself and smile. Thank the black dragon and perform this exercise as often as you think necessary.
Card 2 - Accept - Self-Worth
This card reminds me of Bengal cats with their leopard-type markings, he is quite cute as dragons go. He is here to remind you that you are a being full of light, knowledge, and wisdom. You may not believe me, or yourself if you try to tell yourself that. Your light can shine weakly sometimes. Now is the time to shine a little brighter. Do not trust other people’s truths more than your own. Self-love and self-worth allow you to be critical, to question things and to help establish boundaries with those who may take advantage.
A lack of self-worth can show itself in small actions - you might put away a new item of clothing for ‘later’ or for a ‘special occasion’. You are special, your whole life is a special occasion. Do you use the old wine glasses or the ‘nice’ ones when you pour yourself a glass of something? Do you ever just buy yourself flowers?
The leopard dragon is here to tell you to accept and appreciate your own worth. You are valuable, you are important. If it helps, maybe write this as an affirmation: ‘I am a valuable and loving magical being’.
Read and believe it.
Card 3 - Let Go or Release - Peace
Isn’t the Peace dragon a beautiful colour, serene, like a beautiful bright summer sky or a calm ocean under the sun? I don’t think this card has appeared here to augur chaos and the loss of peace, I think it is here to let go of the struggle for peace. Peace exists within you, this dragon is here to remind you that you have found peace and light through your spiritual journey (whatever that means for you) and that you can maintain it, no matter what rages on in the world around you.
There is another meditation in the book for this dragon:
Light a blue candle (or a white candle if blue is not available), play some calming music, and make yourself comfortable. Close your eyes. Call the blue dragon to your room. Use your inner voice to ask it for peace in your heart, and peace in your body. Look into the eyes of the huge blue universe dragon, and see the boundless love within. Hear the dragon breathe in and out. As it exhales, blue light emerges from its mouth, passing over you and enveloping you entirely. Feel the deep peace that the light brings you. Now breathe it in deeply. See with your inner eye how everything, including the very cells of your body, is filled with this peace. Take your time, observe, and see how the blue light shines through your feet, your legs, your bones, your spine, your gut, and so on. Look deeply into the dragon’s eyes again and join it in exhaling and inhaling the blue light. Peace. Now use your inner voice to say: ‘I am the expression of divine peace, peace is within me.’ Repeat this sentence three times. Now thank the blue dragon, and bid it farewell.
Perform this meditation as often as you like - you cannot have too much peace.
Summary
So to sum up this month’s cards -
Embrace - your dark shadow side, face it, then accept and release it.
Accept - that you are a valuable, loving, and important person, deserving of special things.
Let Go - of the struggle to find peace, it is within you, you just need to relax and remember it is within you.
