Hello Dear Friend,
Happy New Year.
Welcome to 2023, is it me, or do the years seem to go by faster and faster?
However you dress it up, another new year is starting. Do you have plans for this year? Do you make resolutions? I used to, but gave them up as a bad job, it was too much pressure, and then a huge sense of failure if I didn’t live up to them. If you make resolutions how do you choose and how do you manage if you fail to keep them? Just curious really.
I tend to choose a word for the year, although, last year I forgot which word I choose… This year I will write it out and pin it to the notice board in front of where I work so I can contemplate it as the year unfolds.
If you google you can find many different methods to find your ‘word of the year’ but my favourite is from Susanah Conway and can be found here
Disconnecting
I had many things I thought I wanted to say to you this week, but whilst listening to Michelle Obama’s Becoming this morning I was reminded of something completely different.
She spoke about the first time she visited Kenya with Barrack, and the feelings of being disconnected affected her. The feeling of being other, being an outsider, of the world around her operating at a different pace.
It reminded me of the times when I used to come home from the Lake District to Dartford. At the beginning of my visit, I used to feel as if I was operating at half the speed of everyone else. It was as if I was in a different time zone, Dr Who style, I could walk through the town center at my usual pace with everyone else whizzing past me, completely consumed by their lives, their chores, and the appointments they needed to keep. Within a few days I would be charging around just the same, but those first few days I always felt disconnected, an alien observer, watching the hustle and bustle of other lives, other worlds.
This year I think I would like to regain some of that disconnected feeling.
Not in a way that would disconnect me from others, just enough to become more aware of the things that are important, family, friends, loved ones, nature, the community, and my place within it. I would love this year to be a year of discovering how I can be of service to Spirit and the Angels, to take the time to truly listen and pay attention.
Do you have a plan for this coming year? Are you willing to share them? I would love to cheer you on as you navigate the coming months.
Things catching my eye this week:
And always remember:
Until next time, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
Love and Light,
Tracy
