Hello Dear Friend,
Welcome to another missive from my heart to yours. I hope you have had a good week, and survived the new moon and Lions Gate Portal energies. If you are unsure what the Lions Gate Portal is all about here is a link to a YouTube video from Diana Cooper. I am chugging along as usual, knitting little animals for the local craft centre Quay Arts, they can’t seem to keep them in stock at the moment. I don’t mind, they are such fun to make. 😁
I promised to retell my spooky stories a couple of weeks ago, so this week’s post is a selection of the spooky things which have happened to me, including something a little odd which happened last Saturday night…
My first Ghost
Those of you who have been around for a while will remember that I had a younger brother who died very young. He was 5½ ish and I was 7½ ish, he died as a result of an accident while we were living in Germany, and is still buried over there. I was the first family member to see him after the accident, and needless to say probably in shock, then and for a while afterwards. He died in the ambulance on his way to the hospital. We lived in a high-rise block of flats, I think about 8 or 10 stories, and we were on the top floor, above us was just the roof of the block. One night shortly after Neil died I was in bed, trying to sleep, when I looked up and I could see his head popping through the ceiling. It was as if he was on the roof, just poking his head through into my room. I remember seeing him, and he was asking why I had not cried. Guilt? Shock? Who knows. Needless to say, I did not tell anyone, I am not sure how Dad was handling it, but Mum was walking around the flat banging her head on the walls and crying. So who was I going to tell? Who knows what actually happened, but that was the beginning of my journey to find out about life after death, spooks, and the paranormal.
As many sensitive people do, I shut all that down as I grew up, no one else spoke about tingles, cold spots, or things seen out of the corner of your eye. Only mad people see those things, and I wasn’t mad…
When I was about 22 I was working as an under cook, living in Eton in one of the school’s houses at the well-known boys’ school. It was a lovely building, I don’t think it was very old and I had a room in the more modern part of the building. I started visiting my local Spiritualist Church and had many messages from the various mediums on the platform, some I understood, some I did not.
If you have never been to a Spiritualist Church service it is very much like a normal church service, but in the middle of the service, a medium stands and gives out messages to the members of the congregation. If ever you go, and you receive a message, firstly - Do Not Feed The Medium! It is very easy to give off clues and reactions, to volunteer information, just take what they give you, and say thank you. If what they say makes not a jot of sense, accept it, then think on it later. Sometimes, it may make sense, sometimes it will not, well not immediately anyway. I had a message through once saying that the gentleman that the medium was talking to knew about the fireplace…. What? That made absolutely no sense until I was reminded later of the wooden shelves my Grandad had built around the fireplace in my Gran’s house. It was lovely and looked like a Welsh Dresser, when Mum and Dad moved in with Gran it was ripped out, and I had wondered what Grandad thought about it… So, sometimes, it makes sense after the event. I used to take a notepad with me, scribbling furiously, because I would never remember it afterwards.
I digress, sorry, I was talking about the School House where I lived. One night I woke up, sleeping on my front, and I felt someone was in the room. The hairs were up on the back of my neck. I had locked my door before I fell asleep, so no ‘live’ person could have come in. I sensed the person getting closer and closer until they were at the foot of the bed. I lay there, half terrified, half curious, not sure if I wanted to sit up and see who was there…
As I lay there the ‘person’ sat on the end of the bed - I felt the bed sink under them, they sat between my outstretched legs.
Then they laid down.
As they lay down I fell fast asleep again, with a sense of peace and calm. This never happened again. When it came time to leave there and move on to another job, I couldn’t lock my bedroom door, I had never had any issues up to that point. All the way through the building I felt as if something was reaching out to me, to grab me, to keep me, it was very frightening. Knowing what I know now - I was leaving to start a new life with a man who would turn out to be abusive and controlling - it could be they were trying to warn and protect me. Who knows?
My recent slightly weird event happened last Saturday night. We had put the telly on pause (so as not to miss any of the Olympics coverage) while we fed the cats and prepped our dinner. Jo took the drinks through to the sitting room and remarked that the telly had turned itself back on. After a moment of puzzlement, we realised that the telly must only hold the pause for 1 hour… Laughing to ourselves we came in to catch up with the coverage, I said ready to go now then, thinking Jo had the remote - she didn’t - but the telly turned itself on! We were both about 4 feet from the remote control and we never use the voice control with the telly. It could be atmospherics, it could be a stray beam from next door, although that has never happened before, or was it, just possibly a spirit having a joke at our expense?
I do have more spooky tales, which I will share another time. 👻👻👻
Until next time, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
