Hello Dear Friend,
How are you doing? Pinch, punch First day of the month - no returns! Do you say this where you live or is it mostly a British thing? I went off to investigate the origins of the expression and came up with two different schools of thought.
The first is, of course, a charm against witchcraft, the pinch being of salt which is said to ward off evil, and the punch being to keep the witch away.
The second was a surprise to me. Some say it comes from when President George Washington was in office - on the first day of the month he would meet with the Native American Tribes and provide a fruit punch with an added pinch of salt.
I think I prefer the first one, it speaks to my superstitious soul
Welcome to the last reading of this year, the December one, that went by quickly…
Any-hoo, it is the time of the month for the group tarot reading, as ever I will be using my favourite deck - the *Llewellyn Tarot Deck.
Are you ready? Then I will dive right in…
This month’s spread
I have used the usual three-card spread, Embrace/Accept/Release or Let Go. It seems to work for most of you, as ever take what you feel is aimed at you. Disregard anything that doesn’t fit, and above all, as ever, if the card speaks to you in a different way, then go with that.
The Cards
Card 1 - Embrace - Five of Pentacles
Hmm, well, on the face of it, this card looks like it is asking you to embrace a bleak and hopeless struggle, excluded from society. But if you look closer, behind the figures is a lighted window, symbolising warmth, hope, and shelter. So with the theme of Embrace, I would say this card is asking you to embrace all the help and support which is around you at this time. Accept the love, the warmth, and companionship which is around you already, ask for help and support if you haven’t already and accept it with a loving heart, in the same way as you would give the same help and support to someone who asked it of you.
Card 2 - Accept - Strength
This card’s image is a powerful one, portraying the group surging forward - boar, human, horse and lion, all together in forward motion, splashing through the water. Moving onwards, always, to their destiny. Accept that this strength is within you, you are stronger than you believe you are, you have made it this far, accept you have an inner strength and are capable of much. My good friend Louise from Living and Laughing with Lou always quotes this saying from Winnie the Pooh…
Card 3 - Let Go or Release - The Empress
The Empress, she is serene, calm in her power and authority, settled, accomplished and in control.
Why would you want to let go or release that feeling?
Maybe, just maybe that feeling of control, of authority, of being the person in charge, maybe, just maybe, it is beginning to chafe. Perhaps it feels like more of a burden. Perhaps you are feeling trapped by your responsibilities… Maybe you long to walk away, leaving the throne, and walking into the deep woods to go exploring.
Is there a way you could do this, just a little? I’m not avocating running away, or throwing off all of your responsibilities, but perhaps there is a way to find a little wriggle room, or a bit of space for you. A five minute walk, a ten minute meditation, something to reset and restore your equilibrium in order to let the responsibilities lie lighter on your shoulders.
Summary
So to sum up this month’s cards -
Embrace - The help and support which surrounds you, ask for what you need.
Accept - That you are stronger than you believe, tap into that inner power and allow it to support you.
Let Go - Try to let go of some of your controlled life, allow yourself some free time, some time to just play and be by yourself, to recharge your batteries.
As ever these are just my ramblings and are not set in stone, take what you need from the reading and use it. If the cards resonate with you in a different way, go with it. Your heart and soul know what is best for you. Follow the nudges and messages from Spirit and the angels, remember, the more you pay attention, the more you will see.
I will be back on Sunday with my usual letter to you dear friend, until next time, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
