Hello Dear Friend,
Another week has passed by in a blur of moments, some good, some routine, and some best left behind. Much the same as most weeks I suspect. How was your week? I hope it left you with pleasant memories.
Thank you so much for your kind wishes last week, I am beginning to feel better now. I took another covid test on Thursday because my temperature would not go down. Still negative, so it must just be a nasty summer cold, I guess we are all more susceptible to them now after our periods of isolation.
Today, Sunday is my day to go and help Jo with the allotment if you click on the link below it will take you to a short video I took as we left at 6.15 am* this morning.
My view this morning was glorious, slightly misty with the rooks just waking up.
*It is so hot at the moment, that that time is the most sensible to go up to water and plant out. Today I planted out about 100 leeks, so there will be lots of leek-y things going on in our house later in the year…
This week my attention keeps being drawn to growth and nurturing. A recent email sent to me by Jane Lindsey of SnapDragon Life told the tale of a rose she had planted years ago, which had never really thrived. She kept meaning to move it but never did. Last year it had very few blooms on it, and she thought it was coming to the end.
However.
When they returned from a trip this year, the rose was flowering abundantly and the heady scent of roses filled the house.
She says:
I assume that my rose kept growing invisibly each year - all its effort going down to send roots down, a little each year, exploring, experimenting until they reached a patch of better soil.Biding its time, seemingly late according to received wisdom, until it found the right conditions
- and then . . . wow, what a blooming.Jane Lindsey, Snapdragon Life, July 2022
She also mentions a song by The Secret Sisters, called Late Bloomer, there is a link at the bottom of this page and a Youtube link below. The phrase which resonated with her, and me, was that ‘it doesn’t matter when you bloom, it matters that you do.’
Definite food for thought
Reflecting on the story of the rose and the Secret Sisters song, (by the way, have a listen, it is very sing-a-long-able song) I realised there are many lessons to learn.
Slow growth can and does, lead to a strong, firm, healthy foundation for future growth. Sometimes that growth can be so slow as to be almost invisible.
Until you need to lean on it.
Then you realise all that time you spent,
Not giving up.
Not turning back.
Moving forwards little by little.
It has helped you become the person you are now, helped you grow and achieve your dreams. Maybe not all of them, not yet, but each step on your pathway takes you closer and closer.
So I guess the message I want to share with you this week is that perseverance pays off, finding ways to nourish your roots, and your foundations, and not giving up or giving in, is the surest way to achieving our goals. Whatever they are. A bit like planting the leeks this morning, they may look like little bits of grass, only about 6” long at the moment, but with love, care, food and water they will nourish us through the winter months.
This week my goal is to have my Angels book ready to send to Beta readers, wish me luck, I have a lot of work to do in order for it to look as I would like it to. Whatever your goal this week, I wish you well my friend, you’ve got this.
Until next time, as ever, may your angels and guides watch over you and protect you until we meet again.
Love and Light,
Tracy
